Occupational Therapy Assistant – Paediatrics - Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children NHS Foundation Trust
Band 4, 37.5 hours: Fixed term for 4 years from Jan 2021
We have an exciting opportunity for an Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA) to join our friendly and dynamic therapy team for a 4 year period. The team includes Occupational Therapists, 2 OT Assistants and Administrator and provides services to children from 0-18 with a variety of conditions who are treated at the hospital.
The post involves a mixture of administrative, non-clinical and clinical duties. Non-clinical duties include; organisation, setting up and reviewing of specialist equipment including wheelchairs, management of therapy resources and supporting audit and service development. Clinical duties include working in various settings with children as part of the multi-disciplinary team alongside the Occupational Therapists; assisting patients in improving their function independence and participation in everyday activities. You will be responsible for the day to day running of the Pan Hospital Wheelchair service working alongside the existing OTA.
You should have experience of working with children or adults in the community or an equivalent position .The successful applicant will also be expected to complete in-house competencies and training, have experience working as part of a team and demonstrate sound communication and IT skills. Excellent interpersonal and organisational skills are required, plus an understanding of the therapy assistant role is necessary.
This job involves the safe moving and handling of patients and equipment, so you must be physically able to do this.
Additional in house and external training will be provided to support development of the role. The post holder will have regular supervision from a Senior OT and participate in the trust appraisal system.
