We have an urgent long term placement opportunity for Senior Occupational Health Physiotherapist - Band 7 available at Clatterbridge Hospital
Clatterbridge Hospital is a general hospital located on Clatterbridge Health Park in Bebington, Wirral, England. It is managed by Wirral University Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.
The post holder will be responsible for providing a musculoskeletal physiotherapy service for staff of WUTH and take an active role in supporting the manager, taking responsibility for duties to help in the daily running of the department and the development of the service.
To be an autonomous clinician within the Employee Health Service
To undertake physiotherapy clinics in the Occupational Health Department at Clatterbridge Hospital
Assist in the development and evaluation of the Employee Health Physiotherapy Service in order to meet the objectives of the Trust
To facilitate the early and safe return to work of clients/staff on sickness absence through phased return to work/rehabilitation programmes
Autonomously assess and evaluate patients with a wide range of musculoskeletal conditions providing an expert clinical diagnosis and determine their need for intervention within employee health/occupational health physiotherapy
To provide specialist advice to, and work closely with, General Practitioners, Occupational Health Physicians, Occupational Health Nurses and Line Managers regarding individuals’ fitness to work/return to work

Registration with ACPOHE
Experience with research and audit
Health Professions Council (HPC) Registration
State Registered Physiotherapist, Degree in Physiotherapy
Previous experience within Occupational Health Physiotherapy
Evidence of continuing professional development including attendance at recent post-graduate course(s)
Educated to Masters Level or equivalent combination of post graduate diploma, short courses and experience
Knowledge and experience of utilising a wide range of approaches to the management of patients with musculoskeletal problems
Highly developed specialist knowledge gained through extensive clinical experience of MSK out patients and / or occupational health
The post holder will:
To work autonomously whilst being aware of professional limitations and seeking support as necessary through individual sessions with peers/Clinical Lead and/or through weekly team case discussions
To motivate and persuade others through advanced communication skills and be able to gain co-operation for treatment where there may be significant barriers to understanding
To demonstrate skills on motivating clients in the management of conflict across a range of situations in verbal, written, formal and informal manners
To screen every client/patient to ensure that they are referred to their GP for appropriate onward referral if necessary to a variety of other health agencies (eg. X-ray, other Physiotherapy Specialities, Osteopathy, Podiatry, Biomechanics) Clinically ensuring seamless care where possible. This may also include joint multi-disciplinary assessment
To use assessment findings in conjunction with a recognised expert level of clinical reasoning model/s in order to formulate a diagnosis of the patient’s condition
To provide a wide variety of therapeutic interventions including manual therapy techniques, electrotherapy and acupuncture depending on the individuals’ skills and competence
To provide highly expert advice regarding the client/patient’s condition and to employ strategies for self-management to the client/patient and/or carer/family. To aim towards preventing recurrence of symptoms through health promotion and information which is both accessible and easily understood by all clients/patients
